Artist Statement: The vessel I made, was more geometric it kind of looks like a temple. The first step in my building process was to cut out the template. I got clay and rolled it out. I placed the template on the rolled out clay, and used a tool to cut it out. I had to cut out three of the first part of the template and the bottom. Then I score the bottom and side parts of the clay, I applied slip to the scorings and pressed the clay together. The last thing I did was wipe a sponge over tar edges and smoothed it out. Knowing about the stages of clay was helpful. When the clay was wet or plastic, that was when I made the slabs. When to clay got to more of a leather hard, I could cut out the template because at that stage it is a lot easier to carve.
